Enjoy and explore the spring wildflowers of Henry Coe State Park while walking on the Coral trail. This trail starts at the Coe visitor center and is approximately half a mile long (the total distance we will walk is approximately one mile as we need to return to the visitor center/parking lot). We will stop frequently to enjoy and discuss the various flowers. The dirt trail is uneven and the walk is modestly strenuous.
There are no prerequisites for this walk and no knowledge of plants or flowers is needed. However, you need to be able to walk on uneven trails. The duration of the walk will be approximately 1.5 hours which includes frequent stops along the one-mile trail to look and talk about the spring wildflowers in bloom. Each person should plan to bring a bottle of water for their personal consumption on the trail. Comfortable walking shoes should be worn.
Additional costs: Henry Coe State Park charges a day use fee of $5 per vehicle ($3 per vehicle-senior fee for any vehicle with at least one person of qualifying age).
Additional Information: It's about a 30-minute drive from Jackson Oaks (the top of the hill), even though it's only 13 miles. We will be suing the Dunne entrance of the park. So, tae East Dunne Avenue to the top of the hill. Follow the signs to Henry Coe State Park, by taking the right fork when you get to the top of the hill. (Do not take Holiday Drive into Holiday Lakes Estates.) Parking is limited so carpooling is strongly recommended. Register with a friend.
